Attention Deficit Disorder Coaching

Initial Discovery
Whether it's you or someone close to you, suspecting or being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder is a very important first step! At last, you have an explanation for what's been standing in your way for so long. But now comes the hard part: researching all the ADD information and help that's out there, picking what's right for you, and then following through with your choices. That's where I'm helpful.

Assessing Choices
First, we look at the diagnosis and its implications so that you understand how ADD has been affecting your life. Next, we do an assessment together so that we can tune into your strengths (everyone has lots!) and your weaknesses (those too!). We learn about your style, your roadblocks and your dreams. Now we are ready to explore your options (ranging from medication through practical behavioral and social techniques).

Getting to Work
Finally, we are ready to tackle your most difficult challenge: keeping you on track so that you implement your choices successfully. By now, you've learned a great deal about yourself and clarified any confusion you may have had. You are ready to move forward and you know you have a safety net resulting from our careful planning. This part is lots of hard work but it's also fun and satisfying. Nothing feels better than having a handle on your life, whether it's conquering the little everyday details or designing and moving toward your long-term goals!

Family Issues Coaching

Assessing Concerns
Life is so complicated in our fast paced world that it's no wonder many families are struggling! Sorting out priorities, finding time to be with each other and finding time for individual endeavors often seem impossible. In addition, there are the concerns facing single parents, blended families, interfaith families and those where a member has a disability. The list goes on and on and what's worse, once things get off kilter, a downward spiral can easily follow. As a coach, I help you unravel the confusion and move forward.

Getting to Work
Initially, we look at what your current family challenges are. We assess the needs and issues of each member so that they can develop an understanding of their priorities, responsibilities and connections to the others. We encourage open, respectful conversation so that everyone, from the youngest child through the parent(s), is heard and understood. Then, we design a plan which meets everyone's agreed upon goals. Finally, we implement those goals by breaking things down into attainable small steps.

All of this is hard work, but it can be fun and very satisfying. There's great pleasure and comfort in knowing that your family has coalesced and can now face its challenges with more confidence and pleasure!
